Who is Melissa Blue?
Like just about everyone, my family came to Elko for a job. I graduated from Elko High School before obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. After spending time in different parts of the U.S., my husband and I settled back in northeastern Nevada to raise our four children against the beautiful backdrop of the Ruby Mountains. I love being in the outdoors, often hiking or camping with my family. I also love to spend time in my kitchen. For me, cooking provides a similar fulfillment as does photography – investing time and effort knowing that the finished products will bring excitement and satisfaction to others.
Why I want to be your photographer
I feel blessed to have found a livelihood that I’m passionate about: photography. I would love to bring that passion to the event or moment in your life that you are passionate about remembering. I work hard to ensure clients feel at ease in front of the camera. They can be vibrant and charismatic or quiet and shy, but their portrait session is about capturing their unique personality and letting them be a star for the day. My experience, artistic talent, and array of camera and editing equipment will ensure that the images you have to look back on will be as clear, detailed, and expressive as were the original subjects.
Weddings, Families, Seniors, those are just words. I love to create images of the present, capturing the truth of one exact moment and who someone is right then: bride preparing to walk down the aisle, a high school senior anticipating graduation, or a newborn sleepily adjusting to his/her new life. I thrive on the artistic challenge of taking those ‘perfectly posed’ shots as well as the fleeting candid moments. My style is a mix of clean classic portraiture and crisp documentary styles, elegant and timeless, with an added twist or spark.
